Let's start with musubi. . .

Shouldn't my first entry be about fabulous beaches, amazing hikes, warm weather year round, palm trees, and sunshine?  Nah, we're not on vacation, we're living in Hawaii. :)  And that is quite the adventure.  So, musubi.  My coworker defined it as rice wrapped in seaweed.  My husband defined it as wrapping around something.  For example, he said, eternal marraiage is like musubi marriage (wrapped around eternally).

My first experience with musubi was at Kaimiloa Elementary.  The teacher was prepping the students for a field trip the next day.  They needed a home lunch, and she suggested musubi.  I had no idea what it was, but the next day most students showed up with musubi.  Not sandwiches.  Not lunchables.  Lots and lots of musubi.  I forgot I was in the USA for a minute.  Musubi is rice wrapped in seaweed usually with a piece of spam included. Yum! They eat them just like sandwiches.  Or, in the case of today, with chopsticks.  Yes, musubi was the faculty treat today.  I still have yet to try it.  I'm not a big fan of seaweed.  Spam I can handle, I just don't know about seaweed.

And now you have another amazing reason to come to Hawaii.
